 Who We Are
RPM Group was formed in 1980 as a marketing company by
Mr. Ed Lemco. Mr. Lemco entered the motorcycle business in 1969, as a district manager for U.S. Suzuki Corporation. Two years later he opened a retail Suzuki dealership in Albany,
Oregon. The dealership grew to be one of the largest in the country, including Honda and Harley-Davidson products. In his ten years as a franchised dealer, Mr. Lemco was a founding member and President of the Oregon Motorcycle Dealers’ Association and later became the Chairman of the National Motorcycle Dealers’ Association. He has been involved in many issues affecting motorcycle dealers and has been instrumental in the drafting of franchise legislation in many states.
Ed Lemco soon realized that the industry did not need more marketing, but better management training and communication between dealers. He set forth to provide just this. To accomplish this, Mr. Lemco began to form an industry “20- Club”. A “20-Club” is a group of non-competing dealers who meet at regular intervals. In these meetings, financial reporting is reviewed and best practices are discovered.
The first 20-Club (K-1) had its charter meeting in 1981. The company has steadily grown since then, constantly improving services and developing new ways to help the retail powersports dealer. RPM Group now provides services to over 300 dealerships around the world.
These dealers combine to make a total of seventeen 20-Club groups, and their department managers participate in six management development programs, as well as six 20-Club groups of their own.
At RPM Group, our goal is to be the leading provider of 20-Club, training and consulting services for the powersports industry. By providing advanced statistical tools and dynamic educational programs we are confident our members will ultimately maximize sales and profits and obtain the highest return on their investment.
